Blog Projects

I started blogging in 2010, because I wanted to get all the ideas and theories I had about fashion out of my head and on a page, from there Stars We Are was born. It turned into a fashion research blog, and a place where I can post mood boards (before Pinterest) of what I was feeling at the time. I named the blog after Marc Almond’s solo album. I always liked the grandiosity of the title. I also thought it was a fitting since fashion can create “stars.”

Mod Stitch Pattern blog

70’s mod dress by Gaby Jimenez

I previously had a small line of dresses and tees that I would make and sell to local boutiques and at various events. After a couple of years, I burned out trying to do everything myself and realized this was not sustainable as a business. I thought I’d never sew again, but I was wrong…..I love to sew!

modstitchsmallI then started a line of sewing patterns, called Mod Stitch. I couldn’t think of a name, so this name comes from my love of 1960’s – 1970’s era groovy sewing patterns. Especially the ones with illustrations.

Mod Stitch is the instructions site to the patterns, it shows step by step how to sew the styles currently available.
